Online Class

Imagen
Today class was an ONLINE CLASS. To be honest, I don't really find the online classes useful because the attention is not specific to each student. Also, it is very difficult to keep the attention because of the little interaction between us.  The whole situation reminds me of quarantine, so it's not very pleasant.  😑😓😑😓 I would like to clarify that the role of the teacher is to be valued as he/she hardly receives any feedback and talks in front of a computer screen, so it is a very unrealistic job.

Parenting Styles

Imagen
The leadership styles we are going to study have two components: - AFFECTIVE: emotional support. - EXECUTIVE: task control. By combining this concepts, we conclude in the result of the four parenting styles that will be explained right now:          -    An authoritarian teacher or person will want their students to be obedient and proficient, but normally end up lacking happiness, social competences and self-esteem. For example: Teacher Snape on Harry Potter's Films        -     An authoritative parent would have happy, capable and successful children. We can see this type of parenting style in Harry Potter with the character of Ginny Weasley.        -    A permissive teacher would normally have a bad self-regulation, problems with authority, and their students would perform poorly in school, and have low levels of happiness.  For example, the father Veruca (Charlie y ...

Harry Potter Activity

Imagen
Thanks to the activity explained in the previous post of this blog, we can conclude what a tutor should be like in broad terms. To broaden our knowledge on this subject, the teacher set us an activity based on the Harry Potter film, comparing two scenes from the movie where Lupin. We have all had personal experiences of teacher referrals that can be classified into one of two styles of teachers. The first is a strict and cold style and the other is an empathetic and caring style. These two types of teachers are very well represented in the Harry Potter series, being Severus Snape the angry teacher and Remus Lupin the good one. I personally prefer Lupin and I will also like to be like him because he represents warmth and support. it might seem that being too close with your students can be counterproductive, but I think that it is not the closer you are with your pupils but the confidence they have in you. Therefore, you will create a ...

Beginning UNIT 2: Tutorial Action

Imagen
On today's class we started unit 2, named Tutorial Action, which mainly talks about the professional agents that carry out Educational Guidance.  Tutors are professional because of different factors: - Intentionality. - Financially rewarded.  - Socially and professionaly recognized - Previous preparation      The professional agents of Educational Guidance in the Community of Madrid, we can distinguish three different levels: the Community, the schools in which there is a guidance department and at least, the classroom level Finally, we conclude the class by describing, in a collaborative way, how a good tutor must be. This are the main characteristics of a good tutor:

History of Educational Guidance

Imagen
Good Afternoon, here we go againnnnn!!!!!!! 😀 On today class, even though it was online, we had been talking about the last part of the unit which was devoted to the history of Educational Guidance. Afterwards, we played a Kahoot following a Gamification Methodology which help us to to see if we had kept the information in our minds.  As a voluntary activity proposed by the teacher, I have made a timeline including the most significant events of the history of E.G:

Visual metaphors

Imagen
Good morning again😀 In order to get another scope to understand the educational as a concomitant process of the educational development, we have proposed some visuals metaphors. This are some of them: Within this plan our group ("Team Sant") proposed a metaphor based on the evolution provided by the  help of Educational Action and Tutorial Action. Our composition is based on a compass explaining how educators guide tutors. Moreover, we design a butterfly explaining the process by which students passes through their development. Finally, we made a competition between the metaphors proposed in class. WE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mind Map Methodology

Imagen
Mind Map Methodology By cooperative working with the rest of the others groups, we created a big mind map including the elements of the educational guidance. The whole mind map revolves around Wh - QUESTIONS. The idea that arises are agents. and its types: - Professional, which can be teachers, tutors, counselors... that are persons who recieve training and know what they are doing. - Non-professional, which are the ones that don' t have training.  So as a conclusion, we could state that the ones who receives educational guidance may be  EVERYONE After doing this, we discussed about the map we have created introducing a small debate within the class. Afterwards, the teacher by using the mind map attac...

Reflection about our own definition

Imagen
Good morning again. 😀 Today I return to the topic presented in the last blog entry, the definition of educational guidance. In order to talk and discuss about a topic, you first have to know how to define it. Although I had previously included the definition, I am attaching it again:  To begin with, a definition has to include an inclusive term, an objective, the addressee and the origin. Within the definition that we create within the Team Sant group, we distinguish between: - Inclusive term: process - Objective: to achieve the correct educational development - Source group: educational staff - Target group: pupils. Finally I would like to explain our definition in a more subjective way. We see it as a directly related and indispensable process in educational action to achieve optimal development. The aim of this process is to help and guide the pupils by adapting the learning to each pupil also taking into account external influences.  There are some other definition...
